Five elements

Our world comprises of five basic elements known as the Pancha-Maha Bhoota. The five elements are as follows:-

EARTH (Bhoomi): Earth or Bhoomi is very important as everything is discussed with reference to us i.e. Earth or Bhoomi. Earth is the third planet in order from the Sun and it can be compared like a huge magnet with North and South poles as centers of attractions. Earth's magnetic field and gravitational force is the most important for us as it has the maximum effect on everything on the Earth whether living or non-living. Here, earth is also compared as one of the five elements and as "dust". Mars is the governing planet of earth and Venus rules over the dust.

WATER (Jala) - The under ground water carries the highest value for living beings apart from rain water and sea. It exists around 70 percent both on earth as well in our body. It carries very important role in Astrology as well as Vastu.  Moon is the sole governing planet. A strong and positive Moon in horoscope signifies wealth and financial prosperity.

AIR (Vayu) -The governing planet of fresh air is Jupiter.  A well ventilated house indicates good placement of Jupiter in horoscope. In earlier days, we used to have very high roof tops unlike modern flat roofs of 9 feet. High air space allows Jupiter to act more positively within the house hence its always auspicious to have high roof tops and proper ventilation.  

FIRE (Agni) - Sun is the sole governing planet. It represents light and heat. House with good arrangement of Light from eastern direction indicates good placement of Sun in the horoscope. East facing houses also come under its domain.

SPACE (Akasha) - The governing planet is Mercury. As per Lal Kitab, it is Mercury which provides space for others to act and play. Strong Mercury in horoscope would indicate free space at home especially on the all four corners of the house. A house covered from most of the sides with no free space like gallery etc indicates weak Mercury.

There is hidden and strong relation between all the five elements. We can improve our lives by understanding the connection of planets with our Vastu and thereby not only  design buildings but also give equal importance to placements of different articles / rooms in different directions. 

Smart application of Vaastu Shastra principles will enhance good health, wealth, prosperity and mental happiness to all of us.
