Lal Kitab Astrology can be better understood if you have already gone through the Vedic Astrology Course and can predict horoscopes. Lal Kitab Astrology though covers both predictive and remedial astrology but LK is very useful for Remedies. LK never suggests to forget rashi and bhava completely but puts great importance to  position of planets in different houses. Henceforth, it is suggested to give more importance to position of planets in different houses followed by their position in different signs. For example, if Jupiter is placed in first house in Libra sign, we will give more importance to Jupiter's placement in first house rather than Jupiter's placement in inimical sign as lord of malefic houses as per Parashari principles. We will clarify this concept in detail as we proceed further with the subject.

The Aries, Taurus and Gemini signs are associated with index finger (the finger ruled by Jupiter) from top to bottom of the finger. Similarly, Cancer, Leo and Virgo with ring finger (finger ruled by Sun); Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius with little finger (finger ruled by Mercury) and Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces with middle finger (finger ruled by Saturn).

Saturn finger is taken as the last finger for it rules over asceticism or reclusion. 

Aries and Scorpio are ruled by Mars; Libra and Taurus are ruled by Venus; Virgo and Gemini are ruled by Mercury; Aquarius and Capricorn are ruled by Saturn; Cancer is ruled by Moon and Leo is ruled by Sun. Ketu (root of the maleficence) owns Virgo and Rahu (top of the maleficence) owns Pisces. Pisces, i.e. 12th house is compared with Sky whereas sixth house signifies inferno or underground hell.

Houses 1st to 6th signifies right side of the horoscope and 7th to 12th signifies left side. Four Quadrants or Kendras i.e. 1,4,7,10 are the houses compared with the fist or मुठी in hindi. Index finger rules second house; Ring finger rules fifth house; Little finger rules 8th house; Middle finger rules 11th house; Third house signifies all three parts of life and 9th is the center of the horoscope.

LK uses different names for different planets which at times make it difficult to understand the subject. We will keep on explaining the same to the benefit of the learned readers.

For example, Pandit Roop Chand Ji uses Mother for Moon, मछ  or (crocodile) for Saturn, Til (seasame), brother for Mars, Sky, sand etc for Mercury; Lakshmi, Wife, Cow, Mud etc for Venus, Honey for auspicious Mars and poison or  Mars बद meaning highly inauspicious for malefic Mars; word "malefic" is used in reference to three planets viz Saturn, Rahu and Ketu etc.Mangal बद or malefic Mars indicates greed whereas benefic Mars signifies donation.

Jupiter, Mars and Sun are male planets and Venus Moon are female planets. Mercury is eunuch.

"Fix" houses or पक्का घर of nine planets

Sun rules over first house or in other language, first house is the fix or पक्का house of Sun. Second houses is the पक्का घर or fix house or permanent house of Jupiter. This is something similar to signifcator of houses as per Parashari principles. Mars rules third; Moon rules 4th; Jupiter again rules 5th; Ketu rules 6th; Mercury and Venus rules 7th; Saturn-Mars jointly rule 8th house; Jupiter rules ninth; 10th is the पक्का घर or permanent house of Saturn; Jupiter again rules 11th and Rahu rules over 12th house.

Friendship and enmity among planets

For Jupiter: Rahu, Ketu and Saturn are neutral or equivalent. Sun, Mars and Moon are friends and Mercury and Venus are inimical

For Sun: Mercury remains silent in conjunction with Sun. Jupiter, Mars and Moon are friends; Venus and Saturn are inimical and Rahu causes eclipse whereas Ketu also afflicts Sun and can be considered as half eclipse.

For Moon: Venus, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter are neutrals or equivalent; Sun and Mercury are friends whereas Ketu causes eclipse and Rahu afflicts Moon as half eclipse.

For Venus: Mars and Jupiter are inimical. Saturn, Mercury and Ketu are friends whereas Sun, Moon and Rahu are inimical.

For Mars: Venus and Saturn are neutral or equivalent whereas Rahu in conjunct with Mars remains silent; Sun, Mars and Jupiter are friends and Mercury-Ketu are inimical. 

For Mercury: Saturn, Ketu, Mars, Jupiter are neutral or equivalent; Venus, Sun and Rahu are friends and Moon is inimical.

For Saturn: Ketu and Jupiter are neutral; Mercury, Venus and Rahu are friends whereas Sun, Mars, Moon are inimical.

For Rahu: Jupiter and Moon are neutrals; Mercury, Saturn and Ketu are friends and Sun, Venus and Mars are inimical.

For Ketu: Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Sun are neutral; Venus and Rahu are friends and Moon-Mars are inimical.

To summarize, Moon and Venus are neutral but Moon has enmity towards Venus. Jupiter and Venus are neutral but Venus has enmity for Jupiter. In similar fashion, Mars-Saturn are neutral but Mars has enmity towards Saturn; Moon-Mercury though neutral, moon has enmity towards Mercury. Rahu in conjunct with Jupiter, especially in 2nd house, may remain silent but will give its results. Mercury  /  Moon posited in 4th or 2nd house or Mercury-Jupiter or Moon-Mercury in these houses will give auspicious results for wealth.

Days and Time ruled by planets

Jupiter rules over the first part of day time approximately till 8 clock after Sun rise and Thursday

Sun rules over the second part of the day (till 10 o clock)and Sunday

Moon rules over full Moon night, till 11 'o' clock and Monday

Venus rules over no moon night, 1-3 p.m. and Friday

Mars rules over noon, 11-1 and Tuesday

Mercury rules over evening around 4-6 and Wednesday

Saturn rules over whole night or dark day, after Sun set and appearance of stars and Saturday

Rahu rules over evening before Sun set and Thursday evening

Ketu rules over early morning around 2 hours before Sun rise and Sunday morning
